Business Improvement

25 August 2011

Version 3.5 of the Potato Council benchmark model has just been launched online; this free software allows potato growers the opportunity to assess the profitability of their enterprises. The software has been designed to enable specific financial analysis for each of the key sectors, Ware, Processing, Salads and Seed.

The Potato Council business-improvement programme helps you compare your potato crop confidentially with similar enterprises.  It will also gauge how your production costs and business performance fare against the sector’s upper quartile performance.

A full appreciation of your production costs enables you to analyse risk and opportunity, and make strategic decisions based on return on investment, capital input and land commitment.

Funding may be available to assist in the development of business improvement groups, to ensure you maximise the benefits of the programme.

For information contact Phil Bradshaw on 07776 492274, or email benchmarking@potato.ahdb.org.uk
