In the Media
Potato Council marketing primarily focuses on gaining free coverage in the media through newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and online, however, we have also just recently taken out advertising in consumer publications and online, 'to make more of potatoes'. This allows us to target our key messages in exactly the right places for our audience. This approach allows us to generate the maximum return for the levy invested. We focus on the media that our key audience are most likely to read – so you may not see it too often unless you are reading the women’s press!
We work with journalists to give them information and facts about potatoes, farming and the industry. This part of our work also helps to change negative or incorrect perceptions about potatoes and health, and positively promoting taste, versatility and sustainability. We help TV producers to make interesting and informative programmes, together with support from the industry and our Potato Ambassadors.
As well as generating positive coverage for potatoes and the industry we also help journalists with factual information and we help find case studies for programme makers about potatoes and the industry.
